Abstract
결론
K병원 소아치과에 내원하여 Angle 3급 부정교합으로 진단되어, FR-Ⅲ를 일정기간 장착
한 후 임상적으로 반대교합이 해소된 환자 31명(남 9, 여 22)의 치료전후 상태를 두부방사선
계측사진을 이용하여 관찰하였다. 치료전 평균연령은 8.2세(남 8.5, 여8.1)이었고, 장치의 평
균장착기간은 6.4개월 (남 6.2, 여 6.5)이었다.
치료 전후 두부방사선 계측사진을 Enlow의 대응부 분석법에 준하여 전사한 후 각 계측점
과 계측용 평면선에 의해 각 대응부를 서로 비교하여 개체의 악골구조를 분석하였으며, 각
계측항목에서 나타난 상악전돌 흑은 하악전돌효과의 빈도를 산정하여 치료전후를 비교함으
로써 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다.
1. 치료전과 비교하여 상악전돌효과의 빈도는 상하악 총체적 수평길이, 상하 악궁, 후상악
선 수직길이 비교에서 현저히 증가하였다.
2. 치료전과 비교하여 상악전돌효과의 빈도는 상하 구치관계, 상하 치열궁, 교합평면배열
비교에서 현저히 증가하였다.
3. 치료후 기저골의 길이변화가 치열궁의 길이변화 보다 더욱 현저하였다.
4. 중두개와각, 하악평면 배열 그리고 악각의 비교시 나타난 치료후 효과는 치료전과 비교
하여 변화가 없었다.

Since Tomes, C.S. first propounded a definite hypothesis relating arch shape to muscle
activity in 1873, many orthodontic appliances have been developed. One such system of
appliances is the Functional Regulator(FR-Ⅲ) introduced by Rolf Fr nkel.
The purpose of the present study was to evaluate craniofacial morphologic changes of
31 children (boy 9, girl 22), who had been treated with FR-Ⅲ for the correction of class
Ⅲ malocclusion.
In evaluation of changes, this study analysed pre-and post treatment cephalometric
radiograph by the counterpart analysis of Enlow, in which the various facial and cranial
parts are compared with each other to see how they fit. Most conventional methods of
analysis and cephalo metric growth studies are intended essentially to determine what a
particular groth or form pattern is. This procedure was developed to explain how such a
patern was produced in any given person.
By this present study, the following conclusions were obtained.
1. After FR-Ⅲ treatment, the frequency of the maillary protrusion effect was
remarkably increased in Aggregate Cranial floor / Maxilla horizontal dimension,
Maxillary / Mandibular arch and Posterior maxillary vertical dimension.
2. After FR-Ⅲ treatment, the frequency of the maxillary protrusion effect was
remarkably increased in Molar relationship, Maxillary / Mandibular dental arch and
Occlusal plane alignment.
3. Through the treatment, the changes of bony arch were more remarkable than those
of dental arch.
4. After FR-Ⅲ treatment, no change was seen in the effects resulted from the
analysis of Middle Cranial Fossa Angle, Mandibular Plane and Gonial Angle.
